My rehabilitation is successful when I am pain-free!

FALSE…

It’s common to think that pain-free is the only way to be fully recovered, but that isn’t the case for everyone. Someone can be completely free of pain, but still have limited in their day to day life, including;

* Muscle weakness and decreased endurance
* Balance deficits
* Avoidance of certain movements or activities
* Reduced confidence
* Increased risk of injury

Alternatively, not everyone gets to a pain-free status in their recovery. Conditions like persistent pain or osteoarthritis can result in fluctuating symptoms, despite rehabilitation. This doesn’t mean rehab didn’t work, as they can still experience improvements in function and quality of life.
People who have pain can still graduate from their program with:

✅ Improved mobility

✅ Increased strength and tolerance for load

✅ Increased capacity for physical activity

✅ Ability to return to those things they need or want to do, including housework, childcare, sports, and travelling

In rehabilitation, we want to help you manage your pain AND get you moving better!
